Theme of the week: Death | Film chosen: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2

The boy who survived finally faces the Dark Lord..

For most film criticism is unfair construct taking into account its surroundings. The year that was produced, the books that gave the films that came before. With long the franchise “Harry Potter”, especially the latter, is the opposite. It is unfair to think of it as a work in itself closed. It just works, and works very well because the viewer has already mastered a series of information that universe.

“Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2″ starts from the exact point where Part 1 ended. With Voldemort getting the wand wands (one of the relics) and the three boys trying to decide what the next step in the search for the Horcruxes. But none of that matters because this movie is that eventually we will see the showdown between the boy wizard with the lightning scar on his forehead and the Dark Lord.

Interestingly, the film accelerates other events, making the experience a little giddy. We no longer have those beautiful passages of the first part, in which we see Harry alone, thinking. Neither looks the same film. But there is a certain reward that. The scenes of the battles are very cool (even for those who thought they’d never enjoy a battle scene after “The Lord of the Rings”).

“Harry must sacrifice himself”

The non-Harry Potter fans may even squeak by either hole in the script (like the disappearance of Luna, who mysteriously reappears at Hogwarts), or the anticlimactic fight (which is very similar to the book), or even questions that are not responses such as ‘why he had the invisibility cloak?’ (which are answered in the books). But the most important question, at bottom, is: if you’re not a fan of the franchise, that saw eight films, which have less two hours and 15 minutes?

Because, ultimately, the film is important in giving a conclusion to what was started so long in the first infantilóide, directed by Chris Columbus. It is the final track of the journey of this character that saw many sacrifice so much for him, and now believes that it is he who has to sacrifice something for others.

Help in the process, perhaps more than the direction of David Yates, all the baggage of the actors. The leading trio, Daniel Radcliff, Harry, Rupert Grint, Ron, and Emma Watson, Hermione, grew opposite some of the best actors alive in the UK. People like John Hurt, Emma Thompson and Warwick Davis, for example, are just tips the franchise. Because of this, the three today with a little over 20 years, end up giving a beautiful show.

But the high points are still, as was common in other films, with Ralph Fiennes, Voldemort and Alan Rickman as Snape. Even though Helena Bonham Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange, has its moments and Maggie Smith, Professor Minerva McGonagall, have a little more space than usual (and enjoy masterfully), Rickman and Fiennes is that always stand out.

Because of all this is that it’s a bit sad that the battle between Harry and Voldemort is a bit anticlimactic. Also during the fight seems hard to believe that Harry is no match for Voldemort, especially after everything we’ve seen him do. But that is just a fight very similar to the book description. And poor who have the courage to change the ending of “Harry Potter” for the film.
